Gary Neville says Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold can be ‘best ever’ English right-back

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has claimed that Liverpool star, Trent Alexander-Arnold, can become the best English right-back ever.

The Red star has developed over the last few seasons to become one of the top talents in his position. His assists, delivery from dead-balls, and all around game have won plenty of plaudits along the way.

But with Liverpool struggling at times this season, some have questioned whether ‘Trent’ is actually best suited to his current position.

And answering a Twitter Q&A this afternoon, Neville is in no doubt Alexander-Arnold can become the best ever in the position if he can develop certain aspects of his game.

Neville, who is often lauded as the best English right back in recent times, is no stranger to the position. He also knows Alexander-Arnold well from his time coaching England, so will be more than aware the Liverpool man.

Alexander-Arnold is a completely different player to Neville. However, it would be fair to the Sky Sports pundit was probably a better defender than the Liverpool man is right now.

TBR View: Alexander-Arnold is exceptional but could well play midfield in the future

Such is his talent, it would be unsurprising to see Alexander-Arnold make the switch into midfield at some point in his career.

His range of passing, delivery, and ability to put the ball on a plate for attackers means he’d be more than fine in the middle of the park. Think David Beckham, who dropped deeper later in his career and simply utilised his immense passing range.

Neville’s comments are a big compliment here and it wouldn’t be a surprise to the claim come true either.
