Gary Neville has said that Liverpool duo Mo Salah and Sadio Mane proved once again just why Jurgen Klopp continues to pick the duo for the biggest games.

Salah played in Mane for the Liverpool equaliser as the Reds drew 2-2 with Manchester City. Despite having quieter games on the whole, the influential pair proved pivotal in Liverpool getting a result at The Etihad.

There had been talk of Luis Diaz starting in place of Mane, while Salah’s place was being questioned due to his lack of goals recently. However, Neville said that the Liverpool pair proved yet again why they get picked.

“In the second half they turned up. Salah and Mane turned up in that second half. And people wondered whether they should start, whether Diaz should come in or whether Firmino should have come in,” Neville said on Sky after the game.

“You saw in that second half with Salah and Mane why they’re still operating at the very highest level. Why Jurgen Klopp – they’ve built up so much trust – they’ve built up so many credits in the bank for them not to be hoicked off at half-time. They still deliver, and they delivered on that second Liverpool goal.”

Mane and Salah have been mainstays of the Reds team for a number of years now. With pressure building over Salah’s new contract, Liverpool fans will be hoping the club can sort something ASAP.

TBR’s View: Salah And Mane Remain World Class For Liverpool

Big games call for big moments from big players, and Salah and Mane certainly delivered when it mattered yesterday.

The pass from Salah was something a forward dreams of, while Mane, sprinting full pelt past Kyle Walker, displayed the sort of finishing that’s brought him to the very top of the game.

While ever they are at the club, both Mane and Salah will be crucial for Liverpool.
