Gary Neville has given a glowing verdict on Liverpool defender Andy Robertson after including him in his Premier League team of the year for 2020.

The Scotland captain moved to Anfield from Hull City back in 2017 and has likely already achieved legendary status at Anfield in such a short space of time.

Robertson has established himself as one of the best left-backs with his development, becoming an ever-present in Jurgen Klopp’s side to help win one Premier League and one Champions League crown.

The 26-year-old is an all-action full-back that is tenacious with his defensive work, while going forward he contributes so much to the Reds side.

He’s now weighed in with 17 assists since the beginning of last season, and his partner in crime is full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who likewise is such a great attacking threat from right-back.

“Robertson the left-back is unbelievable. 3/4 years to do what he’s doing up and down that wing, intensity, quality and big thing consistency,” Neville told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (10:40pm, 21 December).

Liverpool managing to sign Robertson for £10million (Sky Sports) is now looking like one of the biggest bargains in the transfer window during the last few years, as he’s moved into the bracket of being a world-class defender that has proven himself on the elite stage.

Amid serious injury problems at Anfield this season, Robertson has been a rock by playing every single minute of the Premier League so far and his consistency is so crucial.
