Tottenham were unable to get off to a winning start to their Premier League season with Spurs held 1-1 to newly-promoted Leicester City.
Pedro Porro fired the north London side ahead at the King Power Stadium before Foxes legend Jamie Vardy bagged an equaliser for Leicester, with Tottenham forced to split the points with Steve Cooper and his men.
There were some positives from the game, though, with Gary Neville impressed with Porro’s goal as the Spanish defender showed he could once again be a dangerous outlet for Tottenham in the final third against the right opponent.
And Neville also sent a message to one Tottenham player who is due a good season.

James Maddison tipped to step up for Tottenham this season
Speaking on Monday Night Football, the former Manchester United captain made the suggestion that James Maddison is ready to have a ‘big year’ for Tottenham after a mixed first year with Spurs last season.
Maddison joined the north London side from Leicester last year for £40m, with the England international enjoying a fantastic first few months of the season before picking up an injury and seeing his form for the rest of the campaign drop.
Yet after a full pre-season with Tottenham, Maddison is raring to go, and Neville thinks the playmaker could be set for a massive campaign under Ange Postecoglou as one of Spurs’ key players in the midfield.
Neville said when asked if Maddison needs to step up this season: “Of course, this is a big year for him, but he has demonstrated that he has got the personality and the quality to play at Tottenham. He suits Tottenham to the ground.”

Maddison will want to show his quality this season with Spurs
Maddison was last season viewed as one of the most exciting signings in the Premier League given the attacking midfielder’s track record with Leicester and the platform Tottenham could give the former Norwich City star to impress.
And this season, Maddison will want another shot to prove his worth and quality after a good summer with Tottenham, with the England playmaker in need of a strong season more than most for the north London side.
With Maddison assisting Porro last night, the Tottenham no. 10 is already off to a good start with Spurs for the new campaign, and the playmaker will want to build from the opening game of the season with more top draw performances.
