Gary Neville hailed Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Conor Coady, as he impressed on his senior England debut on Tuesday night.
The Wolves captain impressed in a goalless draw against Denmark in the Nations League and helped keep a clean sheet on his first taste of senior international action.
England manager Gareth Southgate switched to a three at the back system against Denmark, which saw Coady drafted into the XI as the middle centre-back
The 27-year-old has mastered that position during his time at Molineux under manager Nuno Espirito Santo and he didn’t look phased by the step up to the international stage.
Pundit Neville explained that Coady came through the nerves of an international debut extremely well and expects him to be full of confidence going into the new Premier League season with his club.
“I was nervous for him a little bit tonight because you see how relieved he was at the end of the game, as a defender you just want to make sure you don’t make a mistake,” Neville said on Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (9:50pm, 8 September).
“He’s come through that really well tonight. He’s passed the ball well, he’s lead, kept a clean sheet and I think he can be happy with himself that he’ll be in the squad in the next month. He’ll go back to Wolves full of confidence.

TBR’s View:
It was a fairly dull affair for England in the 0-0 stalemate with Denmark, but of the four debutant for the Three Lions it was Coady that made a serious impression with his first opportunity.
He slotted into his centre-back position and was instantly a vocal presence at the back communicating with his teammates, plus he gave a glimpse into the type of long-range passing he’s got in his locker.
Coady definitely looks like someone that has to be in the England picture if they want to move forward with a back three and it’s great that his consistent Wolves performances have been recognised.
