Gary Neville has sung the praises of Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez, despite the Reds being beaten once more this weekend by Arsenal.
The Reds produced a better performance than some of their previous ones this season but in the end they succumbed to a determined Arsenal, who had Bukayo Saka to thank for a late penalty which gave them a 3-2 win.

Of course, there were some positives on display for Liverpool. And Neville, speaking on his weekly Podcast after the game, believes Nunez was a shining light for the Reds.
“I thought he was really good.I thought even in the difficult parts of the game for Liverpool he was their best player. His runs were good. Liverpool needed a centre-forward with Mane leaving, Firmino apparently dropping off, so they have to revitalise that forward line. When they signed Nunez there was this comparison with Erling Haaland,” Neville said.
“That sending off against Palace knocked him but I thought there were really good signs from Nunez out there today. I thought he looked a real handful, making good runs in behind, pressing. But something is still missing for Liverpool.”
Nunez will hope to go on a run now and keep getting on the scoresheet. However, a tough weekend fixture against Manchester City will be the ultimate test for the Uruguayan star.
TBR’s View: Nunez A Plus For Liverpool
It wasn’t the ideal day for the Reds by all means but the fact Nunez got on the scoresheet, coupled with the fact he caused the likes of William Saliba problems as well, bodes well for Liverpool.
Sure, they’re probably out of the title race right now. But Nunez can still have a good season for the Reds and that could, in turn, lead to them winning a trophy as well.
