Manchester United and Newcastle United both got their respective Premier League campaigns off to winning starts last weekend.

The Red Devils and the Magpies will be looking for improvements on last season, as far as league form is concerned.

Although Man United won the FA Cup and qualified for the Europa League, they will want to do better than their eighth-placed finish in the table.

Meanwhile, Newcastle couldn’t build on their fourth-placed finish in 2022/23 as they ended the following campaign in seventh place.

Both clubs will hope that they can turn their respective stadiums into fortresses this season, and it shouldn’t be difficult.

Man United and Newcastle are blessed with two of the most iconic stadiums in English football, namely Old Trafford and St James’ Park.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have now spoken about the atmosphere at both grounds, with the former sharing which of the two he rates more highly.

Gary Neville rates Old Trafford more highly than St James’ Park

Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League that St. James’ Park has “got better since the takeover” at Newcastle.

This prompted Carragher to ask him which he prefers out of the Tyneside ground or his former club’s stadium.

Carragher enquired: “Would you say Old Trafford is a better atmosphere than St. James’ Park?”

Neville then replied: “I see more of Old Trafford so I would say, yeah, of course. I love Newcastle as well so no problem with it.”
