Gary Neville now makes joke about Tottenham after Arsenal fans asks for him to be banned

Gary Neville will have likely ruffled some Arsenal feathers with his jovial comments about Tottenham Hotspur being top of the league this morning.

Neville was responding to a fan on X who was seemingly less than happy about some of the comments he and Jamie Carragher have made of late.

The Arsenal fan was calling for both pundits to be banned from the Emirates for the foreseeable future.

And Neville seemed to be in a jovial mood, responding with a smart reply about Tottenham being top of the league.

After the fan asked for him to be banned, Neville said: “To be fair with Spurs top now we will be coming less anyway.”

And if the fall out from the defeat at Newcastle United wasn’t enough for Arsenal fans to contend with, they’ve now got some fresh misery to enjoy.

Tottenham will move back to the top of the league if they can win their game in hand against Chelsea tonight.

And given Arsenal did slip up on Tyneside, albeit because of some controversial officiating, their fans will likely be backing a side from West London tonight.

Of course, Tottenham will be hoping that none of the drama surrounding referees and VAR affects their game tonight.

Alan Shearer has now come out and criticised the level of officiating in English football as a whole following this weekend.

And following the recent incident between Spurs and Liverpool, it’s clear that this situation will need some addressing.

Nonetheless, Ange Postecoglou will have his Spurs side fully focused on the task at hand tonight.

And everyone at Tottenham will be hoping that Neville can once again remind Arsenal fans who is sitting top of the table afterwards.

Arsenal now have their sights on a Champions League game against Sevilla in mid-week.

And whilst Wednesday now has to be the focus for Mikel Arteta, it may prove slightly hard to leave the sour taste from Saturday behind.
