Well, it might have took a good few hours but in the end, but Liverpool ran out winners over Chelsea as Kepa missed the 22nd penalty of the day to hand Klopp’s side the trophy.
It looked like being a penalty shoot-out which could go long into the night at Wembley. Every player tucked their pens away expertly, with the goalkeepers given little chance on most of them.

However, one man who didn’t appear to fancy taking one was Timo Werner. He left it to number eight to take his effort, allowing defensive players like Rudiger and Kante to step up in front of him. In the end, Werner did manage to sneak his effort past Kelleher in the Liverpool goal. But on another day, he might have missed.
Kelleher came within inches of stopping it really and was clearly disappointed not to keep Werner’s effort out. Indeed, it was that close that Gary Neville noticed that the Liverpool players had already set off sprinting to celebrate.
Pointing it out live on Sky commentary, Neville told us all how the Reds players had thought Kelleher had indeed saved Werner’s pen.
“Some of those Liverpool players were off. They thought Kelleher had saved that and so did I for a second,” Neville said.
TBR’s View: Werner Always Looked Nervous
There’d been a few camera shots towards the Chelsea players on the halfway line and it was clear Werner didn’t fancy it when Rudiger stepped up.
Credit to him, he did stick his effort away. But Neville and the Liverpool players were right, it did look like the Chelsea man had missed. Not that Liverpool’s players – or Kelleher – will care now.
