Gary Neville names three Liverpool players at their absolute peak
Gary Neville has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 24/10; 18:52) that Mohamed Salah is not the only Liverpool player at his absolute peak following the Reds’ stunning win against Manchester United on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were absolutely devastating at Old Trafford. They were ruthless before the break. And it is probably fair to say that they were not even at their best for much of the afternoon.
In fact, Liverpool seemed to take their foot off the accelerator after Paul Pogba was sent off during the second-half. They were playing with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men as the final whistle loomed.
Of course, Salah was the star of the show. The Egyptian scored a sensational hat-trick to continue his incredible run of form at the start of the campaign.
He also provided the assist for the opener. And he provided further ammunition for those who insist that he is the best player in the world.
Neville was clearly blown away by Salah’s display. But he also suggested that Liverpool have two more world-class players perhaps playing better than they ever have.
“He’s at his peak, absolute peak. Very rarely do you see players like that in the Premier League at a point in their life where they are at their absolute very best. He is unbelievable,” he told Sky Sports, when talking about Salah.
“I should mention at the other end, Alisson is exactly the same. He’s another one who’s absolutely at the peak, along with van Dijk.”
Salah, Alisson and van Dijk helping establish this Liverpool side as one of the Premier League’s greatest
Liverpool have been around the summit of the English game for some time now. And yet, somehow, it appears that there is more to come from them.
Neville has lauded Virgil van Dijk. But in truth, the Dutchman has probably not been at his best this season.
Nevertheless, Liverpool are flying. They have scored at least three goals in every single away game this season. And they have not conceded on the road in the Premier League this term.
Salah has been incredible. But as Neville suggests, several others are playing some outrageous football this season.
