Gary Neville has told his Sky Sports podcast that he believes the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and even Manchester United are looking at Liverpool and Manchester City – and fancying that they can mount a charge for the Premier League title.
All five clubs earned victories over the course of the weekend, with Manchester City beating Fulham, Manchester United coming from behind to beat West Ham United and Chelsea also overcoming an early setback to beat Leeds United.
Tottenham and Liverpool responded on Sunday. Spurs cruised past Arsenal in true Jose Mourinho style, before Liverpool eased past Wolves with a 4-0 win. All five are now in the top six, along with Leicester City who beat Sheffield United.
Neville has stated that he thinks with Virgil van Dijk fit, Liverpool win the league at a “canter”. But Neville also thinks that Tottenham, Chelsea and United will be buoyed by Liverpool and City failing to reproduce last season’s form.
