Gary Neville has told Monday Night Football (broadcast on Sky Sports; 5/4; 17:37) that he does not think that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be picked for Euro 2020 following the Liverpool star’s recent omission from the England squad.
It surprised many when Gareth Southgate decided to leave the 22-year-old of his latest group. It has been a tough season for the Reds starlet, as it has for many of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Alexander-Arnold seemed to produce the perfect response in Saturday’s win over Arsenal. It was his outstanding cross that allowed Diogo Jota to open the scoring at the Emirates.
That assist was a reminder of what he can do. But Neville suggested that he has his doubts regarding whether Southgate has any intention of bringing him back into the fold for the summer.

“I don’t think he will include him,” he told Sky Sports. “I think that leaving him out in the March/April friendlies are a precursor to leaving him out in the summer.
“I don’t think he’d just drop that bombshell, I think he’s getting everyone used to the fact that this incredible talent is maybe not going to a tournament unless [Kyle] Walker gets injured or [Kieran] Trippier gets injured or [Reece] James gets injured.”
TBR View: Southgate cannot overlook Alexander-Arnold
England boast a remarkable amount of talent at right-back, but it would be a baffling move to leave Alexander-Arnold out of the squad.
He is a player who has provided 29 Premier League assists since the start of the 2018/19 campaign. He has that piece of magic up his sleeve that could prove vital in a major tournament.
And the pressure on the likes of Walker, Trippier and James will be huge if Alexander-Arnold is left out of the squad this summer.
