Gary Neville has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 10/4; 16:43) that the assist from Trent Alexander-Arnold for Liverpool’s first goal at Manchester City on Sunday was delicious.
Liverpool and Manchester City played out the game every neutral was hoping for at the Etihad Stadium. City took the lead inside the opening minutes through Kevin De Bruyne.

But Liverpool struck back shortly after. Diogo Jota came up with another big goal. But it was a moment of brilliance from Alexander-Arnold to create the opportunity.
The right-back got onto the end of Andy Robertson’s cross. But rather than try and send the ball across the six-yard box, the Englishman cut it back first time into the path of Jota.

Remarkably, it was his 12th assist of the campaign in the Premier League. And Neville could not help but focus on the brilliant pass from the defender as replays of the goal played.
“This from Trent Alexander-Arnold is just delicious. And it’s Jota. Robertson’s pass is a beauty, but Trent Alexander-Arnold’s finding the spot of Jota at the penalty spot is just perfect,” he told Sky Sports.
Liverpool still in title race as Alexander-Arnold produces moment of magic
Liverpool did not get the result that they necessarily wanted. But clearly, a draw is not terrible for the Reds and keeps them right in the race.
Jurgen Klopp’s side did have a lot of the momentum heading into Sunday. And City remain within touching distance heading into the final seven games of the campaign.
Liverpool played some scintillating football going forward. And Alexander-Arnold was amongst those who stood out for the visitors.
It was not a perfect performance. But the game has certainly whetted the appetite for what is to come over the weeks ahead.
