Gary Neville has admitted he is stunned by the improvement of Liverpool’s Andy Robertson defensively.
The 25-year-old has cemented his spot at Anfield as the first-choice left-back and has developed into a key player.
He’s provided a staggering 13 assists from full-back this season in 44 games across all competitions and is such an attacking threat for the Reds.
The Scotland international is also part of a formidable defence that has kept Liverpool in the title race and helped them to the Champions League semi-finals.
Robertson arrived at the Merseyside club in 2017 for just £8million (BBC Sport) from Hull City and gone on to reach elite levels.
Sky Sports pundit Neville is surprised that the Scottish flyer has reached the standard he has in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
“Robertson has become a brilliant full-back,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“I have to say, defensively with England, we actually exploited him up at Celtic Park. We said: ‘Make runs inside him, he’ll be good going forward, but defensively you’ll catch him.’
“What he’s done at Liverpool has shocked me in terms of his defensive work.”

TBR’s View:
Robertson’s incredible rise is one of several success stories in the current Liverpool squad and he now has to be considered one of the best left-backs around.
There are no obvious weaknesses in his game and is such a consistent performer for the team.
German boss Klopp is the mastermind behind improving a number of Liverpool players and Robertson has perhaps enjoyed the biggest jump up.
His £8million price now looks a ridiculous bargain and he could be the Liverpool left-back for the foreseeable future considering his age.
