Gary Neville was blown away by Liverpool’s defender Trent Alexander-Arnold after his latest performance on Monday night.

The right-back starred in the 3-2 home victory at Anfield over West Ham in the Premier League, which moved the Reds that bit closer to the title.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had to come from behind in the second-half to eventually wrap up the win and they are 22 points clear of second-placed Manchester City.

The Merseyside giants need just 12 points to guarantee the title, but they remain unbeaten in the league this campaign and nothing is going to stand in their way.

Alexander-Arnold proved his influence once again for Liverpool against West Ham, as he provided two assists in the contest and his crossing was a threat throughout.

The English full-back now has 14 assists in 37 games across all competitions this season and many consider him to be the best right-back in the world at present.

Sky Sports pundit Neville was left waxing lyrical about the 21-year-old after his latest contribution and called him a “special talent’.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold is absolutely exceptional. I said a couple of months ago that I watched him defensively and I thought that he needed to get more serious about his defending because I do think he’ll cost his team in certain games,” Neville told Sky Sports’ Premier League channel (10:15PM, 25 February).

“But it’s unfair to suggest that because actually his overall performance levels are high, so high. So young, so mature, and Liverpool have got a really special talent.”

TBR’s View:

Liverpool certainly struck gold with academy graduate Alexander-Arnold and he’s been performing at such a high level since he broke into the first-team.

His record of 34 assists in 122 senior games highlights his threat and it will be no surprise to see that ratio increase during his career.

The England international is only going to improve with his back to goal with more experience, but people are quick to overlook he’s a part of a brilliant backline that has played a big part in the title bid.
