Tottenham Hotspur have been praised by Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who gave his thoughts on Spurs’ current style of play and also spoke of their Premier League title chances.
Jose Mourinho has now been at Tottenham for just under 13 months, having taken the reins on 20 November last year shortly after Mauricio Pochettino’s departure.
The Portuguese’s arrival prompted a mixed reaction by the fanbase, some delighted by the arrival of a world-renowned manager with a stellar CV, others unsure he’d be able to build on Pochettino’s work.

Just over a year on and Mourinho has answered most of his critics, having built and moulded a team which now sits top of the Premier League table after 11 games and is excellent in every area of the pitch.
As well as being in the title race, Spurs are also in the last 32 of the Europa League and in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, and optimism is incredibly high with regards to ending a 13-year trophy drought.
Focusing specifically on the Premier League title race, Neville described Tottenham as “experienced, wise, cute, a little bit nasty”, boasting top players who have bought into the Mourinho style, and having a good change of being top of the standings come May.
“The players are buying into it, Jose Mourinho has given them belief, they can now handle and play in big matches, they look experienced, wise, cute, a little bit nasty,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“We have seen them against United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal and they have picked up 10 points out of 12. He has some really top players and he now feels he can compete with Pep and Klopp.
“I think he has got a chance as there is no doubt City and Liverpool are not where they were.”
TBR View:
Mourinho is one of the most esteemed managers in world football with a remarkable CV, and he continues to prove critics wrong, having done well at Spurs this past year.
Admittedly, Tottenham’s season didn’t start well, losing 1-0 to Everton in their league opener, but they’ve turned it around and are now bona fide title contenders.
