Gary Neville has told Sky Sports – as per Football Daily – that Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min is easily on a par with Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Manchester City superstar Raheem Sterling, as the South Korean continues to shine.

Son, 28, has been in sensational form for Tottenham this season – netting the winner as Spurs beat Burnley 1-0 on Monday night. The South Korea captain has had a hand in 14 goals in just nine games, scoring 10 and creating four.

With 238 appearances under his belt for Spurs since joining the club for just £22million (Guardian) in 2015, and is now just five goals away from a century for Tottenham. He has struck a mind-blowing partnership with Harry Kane this term.

Neville discussed the Spurs star and reckons the attacker is on a par with Man City ace Sterling and Liverpool’s speed machine Mane – as well as Mo Salah. He claimed that if Son was at Liverpool, he would match £100k-a-week Mane (Spotrac).

“Son is so understated,” Neville said. “He doesn’t get the glitz that other top players get in the league, he’s an absolutely amazing player Son. He is a brilliant, brilliant player. It is a nightmare to play against him.

“He makes all the right runs. We talk about Sterling regularly, we talk about Mane and Salah at Liverpool. He is in that bracket, if he was playing for Liverpool – he would be doing what Mane and Salah are doing.”

TBR’s view – Tottenham must keep Son for as long as possible

Luckily for Spurs, as Neville says, the attacker goes somewhat under the radar despite having stats that are on a par with the likes of Mane, Salah and Sterling. This season, he has even eclipsed the Liverpool and Manchester City stars.

Son loves Tottenham and his teammates – that is clear to see. If there is a chance of extending his contract just to make his future is ultra-tight, then it needs to be done. His improving form is only likely to catch more attention.
