Tottenham might have lost to Liverpool yesterday afternoon but Gary Neville was full of praise for striker Harry Kane.
Speaking in his podcast for Sky Sports after the game, Neville felt Kane’s performance was worth a mention. The England skipper got the goal to help Tottenham back into the game. Indeed, he also very nearly had a second.

With the World Cup around the corner, Kane is in fine form. And Neville believes Kane looked back to his best against Liverpool, insisting he is a ‘brilliant’ forward.
“I highlighted him before the game because I thought it would be a difficult game for him. Because I never saw how he would get into the game without having runners go past him. But as soon as Kulusevski came on he started to come into it and he had a big impact in that last 25 minutes,” Neville said.
“The goal was classy. He’s a brilliant striker, Harry Kane. He’s precise. He’s definite. Sure. He knows where the goal is. He’s as certain as it comes really in terms of a striker when you’re finishing. We’re right behind it, it was brilliant, little pass and then the shot. And then the little header that nearly got Spurs the equaliser. I think he’ll feel good about how he’s come into that game, obviously he won’t be happy he’s lost. But he looked lively, looked like he had his legs back.”
TBR’s View: Kane remains top dog for England and Tottenham
He might have been on the losing side but Kane showed in that second half what he can be. Yes, he needs a few players around him to make it happen. But he is world class, and it showed.
The finish was that of a striker who is at the top of his game. Neville mentioned the records all going for Kane soon and it’s hard to disagree.
Kane, of course, won’t like losing. But in terms of his own form, he is producing and if he carries on, Spurs can be confident of landing a top four spot.
