Gary Neville delivered huge praise on Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Monday night, with the striker responding on Twitter to his comments.

Sky Sports pundit Neville was discussing the quality of the 30-year-old Gunners star and he suggested that he’s massively underrated in the Premier League.

The rapid centre-forward has 19 goals in 30 games across all competitions so far this season and bagged twice at the weekend in the 3-2 league victory over Everton.

He has 60 goals in 95 club appearances in total since he joined Arsenal from German club Borussia Dortmund and has proven himself to be a top marksman in English football.

“He’s one of the best players we’ve got in the Premier League, but for some reason he doesn’t quite get the credit and the plaudits that others get,” Neville said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“We’re all guilty of it but I think he’s been absolutely sensational, and he now needs to be given the credit he deserves.

“I think he’s been absolutely sensational, and I think now’s the time for us all to start recognising the quality and the brilliance of this player. He fights for the team, he’s always there, and for me, he’s everything you would want in a football player.”

Aubameyang gave his response on social media to the comments:

TBR’s View:

Aubameyang’s individual record speaks for itself as a top goalscorer and Arsenal would be in serious trouble without his goals.

The Gabon international is effective in a central striker role or as a left-winger, but ultimately he is going to be a serious goal threat.

Mikel Arteta’s side are going to need him if they are going to go far in the Europa League this season and that could be their best route back into the Champions League for next year.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang is joint-top of the Premier League’s goalscoring chart with Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy on 17 and it would be no surprise to see him move clear if he can stay fit.
