Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Mabbutt has waxed lyrical about Spurs duo Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, in conversation with talkSPORT.
Son and Kane have been indispensable for Tottenham over the past few years, the former registering 89 goals and 47 assists in all competitions for the Lilywhites and the latter scoring an impressive 190 competitive goals.
Indeed, when Son and Kane were both sidelined earlier this year, Tottenham were left in a precarious position and their season was at risk of falling apart completely, though in the end, Spurs managed to clinch European qualification.
Both were in superb form in Tottenham’s 5-2 win over Southampton last time out, Son netting four and Kane adding a fifth in the 82nd minute as they gave Jose Mourinho his first Premier League win of the season.
“Sonny, for me, has been our best player over the past two or three years,” Mabbutt told talkSPORT. “His goals, his assists, he’s always got a smile on his face, he’s a great lad.
“And of course, Harry has proven himself to be one of the best players in the world and continues to grow in stature.”
Son and Kane are two players who need no introduction, both fan favourites at Tottenham and assured of a place in the club’s history as two of its greatest servants.
Spurs stumbled against Everton and struggled against Lokomotiv Plovdiv, but were at their rampant best at Southampton thanks to their talismans’ efforts.
And with Gareth Bale soon to be at Mourinho’s service, the Tottenham front line is set to get even more impressive.
