We aren’t far off the summer now and you get the impression the whole saga around Harry Kane and Tottenham could be set for a repeat.
Kane’s future was the huge discussion point of the summer as Manchester City did their best to land the England captain. As we know, Daniel Levy held his nerve and Kane remained at Spurs, where he is now playing well under Antonio Conte and hitting the back of the net regularly.

However, according to former Spurs striker and Match of the Day host, Gary Lineker, Kane is already sending signals about his future. And Lineker, chatting to Micah Richards and Alan Shearer, thinks the Tottenham star is dropping subtle hints about his future.
“If you’re Harry Kane there’s so much to take in but I wouldn’t have signed two or three years ago, we’ve spoken about that before. If he wants to be considered with the top, top he’s got to leave,” Richards commented first.
“It’s his team though, it’s hard for him,” Linker was quick to reply, before Shearer added: “If you mention recruitment there, he has to go to the club if not now certainly in the next month or two.”
“Has he not been radiating that vibe in his interviews really? When they lose it’s like the end of the world. It’s maybe down to me, I’m going to leave, I’ll walk out, I’m happy to do so, it’s not about the money to me. He’s sending signals isn’t he,” Lineker added on the MOTD Top Ten podcast.
Shearer then added a further comment, saying:
“He’s got to find out what their ambitions are this summer. One, can they keep hold of Conte? Because if they can that probably means they’re going to spend a few quid,” which Lineker simply responded with an ‘exactly’ to.
Kane scored yet again for England at the weekend as he stroked home a penalty against Switzerland. He has insisted he is happy under Antonio Conte but both City and Manchester United are expected to pursue a move this summer.
TBR’s View: Here We Go Again With Harry Kane
It’s easy to see why clubs want to sign Kane from Tottenham. His goals record and his brilliant performances up top for Spurs have once again shown why City were so keen last summer.
This summer will be no different. Another year has ticked down on Kane’s contract and with Liverpool and City so far ahead of everyone else, it won’t be a surprise to see the likes of United and Chelsea swoop.
Rest assured, this won’t be the first and last we hear of Harry Kane and the 2022 summer window.
