Gary Lineker shares surprising statistic about 28-year-old Liverpool star after Burnley loss

Liverpool’s shock defeat against Burnley at Anfield on Thursday night threw up some incredible statistics.

The Reds may have not been at their best this season amid injuries and loss of form, but one thing that was almost certain was how Anfield was their Premier League fortress.

That’s no longer the case after a turgid display from Liverpool, combined with a gutsy Clarets performance, saw Jurgen Klopp’s side fall to a 1-0 defeat.

Burnley’s winner came from the penalty spot as Alisson Becker brought Ashley Barnes down in the box in the latter stages of the game.

The Clarets striker converted the spot kick in the 83rd minute to give his side their first win at Anfield since 1974 and end the Reds’ 68-game unbeaten home run in the league.

And in wake of the defeat, Gary Lineker shared another really surprising statistic about one of Liverpool’s star players.

Sadio Mane had previously never lost a Premier League game at Anfield for Liverpool – until Thursday night.

Considering the 28-year-old joined Liverpool in the summer of 2016, and has enjoyed an unbeaten Premier League record at Anfield for all this time, is nothing short of remarkable.

However, with the unbeaten run now over for player and club, Klopp has a lot of work to do to ensure his charges can get back on track, as they’re very much off the rails now.
