Gary Lineker gave huge praise to Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero after the news was confirmed on Monday that he’ll be leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
Man City confirmed (official website) that the 32-year-old will be exiting when his contract expires this summer.
Aguero will exit with the legacy of one of the club’s greatest ever players.
The Argentine forward has scored 257 goals in 384 appearances for the Manchester club, which has included four Premier League titles along the way.
He’s likely to add a fifth league crown in his final campaign, albeit injuries and have selection mean he’s been a bit-part player in Pep Guardiola’s squad this season.
Lineker posted a farewell message to Aguero on Twitter ahead of his summer departure.
TBR’s View:
If you think of Man City as a club during the last decade, Aguero will be the individual that springs to mind first for a lot of supporters.
His dramatic goal to win the league title against QPR in 2012 is one of the famous pieces of Premier League history, let alone Man City’s history.
With the striker still 32 years of age, it’ll be interesting to see where his next move will be, and if he can continue to score goals elsewhere.
Meanwhile, his exit will leave a massive void at the club, so signing a marquee striker to replace him could make sense.
