Gary Lineker has addressed some upset Liverpool fans after his celebrations were captured in their defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday night.
The Reds lost 3-0 at the Camp Nou in the first leg of a Champions League semi-final.
Jurgen Klopp’s didn’t take their glorious chances in front of goal to net a vital way goal ahead of the second leg at Anfield, while their opponents were clinical.
Lionel Messi scored the pick of the goals with a stunning 35-yard free-kick and BT Sport presenter Lineker was caught on video celebrating the set-piece wildly alongside colleague Rio Ferdinand (BT Sport’s Twitter).
Ex-Barcelona striker Lineker claimed on Twitter there was no need for him to apologise for supporting not only his former team, but also the genius Messi.
“Seem to have upset a few Liverpool fans by celebrating greatness last night. Admittedly it was a bit cringe, but as a former player who loves Barcelona I make no apologies for dancing to the diminutive Dios (God),” Lineker wrote on his personal Twitter account.

TBR’s View:
Nobody can be blamed for getting caught up in the genius of attacker Messi, especially a former Barcelona player like Lineker.
His stunning free-kick may have been enough to kill the semi-final as a contest and it’s going to take some turnaround at Anfield from Liverpool.
Messi, who is regarded by some as the best player of all time, is showing no signs of slowing down aged 31.
The Argentinian attacker has made 46 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 48 goals and supplying 22 assists.
Liverpool fans knew that it was going to be a helpless task trying to control him, but the frustrating aspect if that they had their own chance to score and didn’t take them.
