‘He’s great’: Gary Lineker blown away by Arsenal player’s ‘terrific’ display at Southampton

Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka has been praised by Gary Lineker following his superb performance for the Gunners on Tuesday night.

The 19-year-old delivered a simply outstanding display as Mikel Arteta’s charges ran out 3-1 winners at Southampton in the Premier League.

Arsenal were desperate to make amends after losing to the same opposition at the same ground at the weekend to exit the FA Cup at the fourth round.

Things began badly as Stuart Armstrong put Saints ahead after just four minutes, but Nicolas Pepe equalised in the eighth minute.

Saka was involved in both of Arsenal’s subsequent goals, rounding Alex McCarthy to score from Alexandre Lacazette’s threaded ball on 39 minutes.

The Hale End graduate then turned provider for Lacazette in the 72nd minute, his first-time ball across the face of goal tapped home by the Frenchman.

Plenty of fans, peers and pundits waxed lyrical about Saka after the game, with Lineker quick to praise the Arsenal rising star on Twitter:

Saka now has five goals and four assists from 25 appearances in all competitions this season.

His overall Arsenal tally stands at 67 competitive appearances, nine goals and 15 assists.

The Gunners are now eighth in the table and are next in action against Manchester United in the league.

Arsenal and United lock horns at the Emirates on Saturday, 5:30pm kickoff.
