Gary Lineker says £70m Arsenal target is one of the biggest aerial threats in the world

Gary Lineker has now been discussing the rich ability of one striker who is said to be an Arsenal target ahead of the summer.

Mikel Arteta and his staff will certainly have their main attention on the games and opportunities that still exist this season, however, they will also be planning ahead.

Edu Gaspar conducted some extremely efficient business when signing both Declan Rice and Kai Havertz for Arsenal early last summer.

And given how successful that swift planning was, it would be a surprise if Arsenal suddenly took a new approach now.

It’s interesting to consider where Arsenal will focus the majority of their spending in the off-season.

It always felt as if Arteta would sign a striker this summer, however there’s perhaps only one suitable target that now remains.

And therefore it’s quite pertinent that Gary Lineker has recently been discussing Victor Osimhen on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast.

Lineker ended up complimenting the Arsenal target for his heading ability, having been asked a question by one of the podcast’s listeners.

Gary Lineker says Arsenal target Victor Osimhen is exceptional in the air

Speaking on the podcast, Lineker initially complimented Liverpool’s Diogo Jota before mentioning Osimhen.

Lineker read: “Is there any players you played with who weren’t necessarily the biggest but were exceptional headers of the ball? I would say me! He mentions Diogo Jota, which was a good shout.

Alan Shearer replied: “Speedo had the best leap I have seen.

Lineker: “Cristiano Ronaldo could leap, couldn’t he? He still can! Have you seen Osimhen? I know he is big anyway, but he can spring.”

Of course, Osimhen’s aerial ability is just one of many characteristics which could prove very tempting for Arsenal this summer.

Perhaps Lineker would therefore think that Arsenal would be right to target Osimhen in the off-season, even if a deal may be difficult.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with interest in the Napoli striker who could end up costing even more than £70m given the widespread competition for his signature.

All that being said, some interesting information has now emerged regarding Kai Havertz’s move to Arsenal.
