Arsenal’s struggles continued on Thursday as they lost 2-1 to Brighton at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.
The Gunners extended their winless run to nine matches in all competitions, which is their worst run since 1977.
Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg watched on as his side lost control in the match following an initial bright start.
Goals came from two of the Seagulls’ summer signings in Adam Webster and Neal Maupay and in truth the visitors could have had more, recording nine shots on target to Arsenal’s five (BBC Sport).
They had Bernd Leno to thank for keeping the score down, and the German was praised by Match of the Day host Gary Lineker on Twitter.
Germany do produce a plethora of decent keepers. Leno is another excellent goalie.

Leno has been the busiest goalkeeper in the Premier League so far this season according to Squawka.
TBR’s view – Leno deserves better
Leno is one of the very few Arsenal players to have covered themselves in any glory this season.
The 2018 summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen is very dependable for the Gunners, but he is not helped by the defence that’s in front of him.
He needs better protection – he can make plenty of saves but eventually, teams will breach him if given enough chances to do so.
