Gary Lineker posted a message on Twitter about Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold after he scored a winning goal against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds temporarily moved into the top four of the Premier League with a 2-1 victory at Anfield.
Ollie Watkins had put Villa ahead in the first half, before Mohamed Salah equalised just before the hour mark with his 28th goal of the season across all competitions. Jurgen Klopp’s side then went on and secured the precious three points in stoppage time.
Alexander-Arnold, 22, scored a remarkable shot from the edge of the box that he curled into the far corner with real pace.
The right-back has been much discussed lately due to the fact he was omitted from the England squad in the recent international break, with some fearful he will be left out of the group for the European Championships.
However, pundit and ex-England striker Lineker sent a message to Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate about Alexander-Arnold’s last-gasp winner.
Brilliant late winner from @TrentAA. The advantages of this incredibly talented young man’s play going forward far outweigh the occasional naivety in his defending. He does things only the truly great fullbacks in history can do. I’m sure Gareth will see sense.

If you ask anyone about England’s right-back situation, then nobody is going to argue that Alexander-Arnold is the pick of the bunch when it comes to his technique and attacking threat.
Southgate is weighing up whether or not he trusts him enough defensively, but there is going to be huge uproar if he’s left out this summer.
As for Liverpool, it was such a vital three points they earned on Merseyside this weekend.
It’s going to take another famous European night to avoid being dumped out of the Champions League by Real Madrid next week, so it’s absolutely vital they finish in the top four with a strong end to the season.
