Gary Lineker took to Twitter to label Raphinha’s strike in Leeds United’s stunning win on Tuesday a potential goal of the season contender.
The Whites were outstanding against West Bromwich Albion. Marcelo Bielsa’s side won 5-0. The scoring began with an outrageous own goal from Romaine Sawyers.

But Leeds capitalised to go into the break 4-0 ahead. Gjanni Alioski, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo all got on the scoresheet.
Leeds remained comfortable after the break. But they did manage to add another goal. And it came from a fantastic finish from their summer signing.

Stuart Dallas, Raphinha and Jamie Shackleton played some delicious football down Leeds’s right wing. And the move resulted in the Brazilian cutting inside and unleashing a gorgeous strike into the top corner.
It was a fitting way to round off the scoring for the visitors at the Hawthorns. And it prompted Lineker to suggest on Twitter that he may have seen a goal of the season contender…
Leeds boast a remarkable record when it comes to sharing the goals out. They have scored 13 times across their last four games. And yet, the 3-0 win over Aston Villa back in October was the last time that one of their players scored twice in a game.
Raphinha now has two. And based on those two finishes, he can expect to get many more before the campaign concludes.
