Gary Lineker took to Twitter to comment on Hugo Lloris’s performance during Tottenham Hotspur’s victory against Southampton on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men enjoyed an eventful afternoon against the Saints. After taking the lead through Tanguy Ndombele, Spurs were reduced to 10 men with Serge Aurier sent off shortly after the half-hour mark.

And it got worse for Tottenham shortly after. Lloris was dispossessed inside his own six-yard box by Danny Ings as he attempted a turn. The striker managed to poke the ball into the net for the equaliser.
Tottenham and Lloris however, would respond. Harry Kane scored the goal that proved to be the winner just before the break.

And Lloris ensured that he atoned for his mistake. He made a number of fantastic stops to keep Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men at bay as Spurs saw the game out and secured only their third win of the campaign.
Lineker posted on social media after Southampton’s goal and following the saves that Lloris made. He initially suggested that the Spurs captain had produced one of the biggest howlers possible.
But the former Tottenham striker went on to laud the way that the 32-year-old responded to his mistake.
Here is what Lineker posted about Lloris during Spurs’s win…
Lloris has come in for a little more criticism at various stages over the last 18 months. But he provided a reminder of why he has been one of the best goalkeepers of the Premier League era.
And it would be no surprise if he builds on his second-half performance and silences his doubters once again in the coming weeks.
