Gary Lineker raves about ‘stunning’ moment from Wolves game last night

BT Sport pundit Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to praise Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Ruben Neves for the goal he scored in the 4-0 rout of Espanyol at Molineux in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges put in a formidable display to blow the La Liga strugglers away, and while Diogo Jota took the match ball with a hat-trick, Neves weighed in with an absolute thunderbolt to put his side two up early in the second half.

Jota opened the scoring in the 15th minute against Espanyol, who are bottom of La Liga with just four league wins all season and had made widescale changes for the game, with a volley from Raul Jimenez’s flick-on.

Wolves nonetheless lived dangerously as the visitors threatened on occasion, but then came the superb second of the game as a half-cleared ball fell to Neves, who controlled with his chest and let rip with a 25-yard volley.

From then on it was one-way traffic as Matt Doherty and Leander Dendoncker combined to set up Jota, who held off Victor Gomez to drill home in the 67th minute, and the cherry on top came nine minutes from time, Jota rifling a low shot home from the edge of the box.

Lineker’s focus was on Neves’ superb effort, sharing BT Sport’s clip and giving his own thoughts:
