Gary Lineker couldn’t resist making a joke about Harry Kane after his Tottenham Hotspur teammate Richarlison bagged a brace for Brazil last night.
Tite’s men are one of the favourites to win the World Cup in Qatar. They have an incredible squad, and they kicked off their campaign with an impressive victory last night thanks to Richarlison’s brilliant brace.

Gary Lineker makes a joke about Harry Kane after Richarlison’s brace for Brazil
Before the World Cup started, if someone asked you to name your contenders for the Golden Boot award, we’re sure Kane would’ve been on the list.
The England skipper won the prestigious award in the last World Cup in Russia after scoring six times. He has been in fine form since the start of the campaign, and it won’t surprise anyone if he goes on and wins it in Qatar as well.
Lineker, like many others, believed Kane would be the star at the World Cup this year, but little did he know that it would be another Tottenham striker who’d steal the show after matchday one.
The pundit, who clearly didn’t expect that, decided to play it off with a little joke on BBC Sport’s coverage of Brazil vs Serbia last night.
“I always knew a Tottenham centre-forward would shine at this World Cup,” he joked after Richarlison scored his stunner, suggesting that he always backed the Brazilian to shine, not Kane.

TBR View:
If someone had told you that England would score six times in their World Cup opener, you would’ve surely been convinced that Kane had netted at least one goal.
However, the Englishman had to settle for a couple of assists instead.
Chris Sutton claimed after the game that Kane would’ve been ‘gutted’ because he didn’t score a goal, and we agree. He’d love nothing more than to change that tonight when England take on the USA.
If Kane does manage to find the net tonight, we’re sure Lineker will say something along the lines of ‘I told you so!’
