Gary Lineker has now reacted after hearing a rumour involving Manchester United.
The 63-year-old shared his response on X (previously known as Twitter).
So, what has Gary Lineker heard about Manchester United? Let’s take a look…
Gary Lineker reacts to rumour involving Manchester United
Well, the BBC Match of the Day host came across a post on X which highlighted a story from Give Me Sport.
It was Dean Jones who told the outlet that Manchester United will do everything they can to sign Harry Kane from Bayern Munich this summer, if he becomes available.
After hearing that rumour, Lineker simply posted a number of laughing emojis on X – clearly, he doesn’t think there’s much in this particular story.
Jones expanded beyond the line posted on X, telling Give Me Sport: “If United are going to sign a striker then Kane is as good as it gets. We know there’s admiration for him and they do still hold some interest. At the moment, I wouldn’t have huge expectations around it. If Kane is genuinely unsettled, as some reports have suggested, and he wants to return to England, then you have to make sure you’re in the loop as to is it possible to sign him, and Man Utd will do that.
“But, let’s face it, there is very little sign at the moment of Man United signing a player for mega money. So even if his situation does start to open up, it’s still going to be difficult to sign him. They would do everything possible to make it happen if they saw potential, but it’s hugely difficult to do.”
Harry Kane will surely stay put
That all sounds a bit iffy to us, and we highly doubt Manchester United will be making a move for Kane this summer.
After all, why would Bayern Munich sell the 30-year-old after just one season?

Kane has remarkably scored 36 goals in 32 appearances for the German giants, and has a contract at the Allianz Arena running until July 2027.
Therefore – unless the England international becomes homesick and asks to leave – we doubt there will be any further transfer sagas involving his name this summer.
