Gary Lineker took to social media during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday to suggest that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s passing ability is extraordinary.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have seen their flawless start to the Premier League season come to an end. But they remain unbeaten. Adam Lallana scored with five minutes remaining to cancel out Marcus Rashford’s first-half opener.
There was plenty of controversy during the game. But it is probably fair to say that Liverpool were nowhere near their best. They struggled to break down a Manchester United side that seemed happy to focus on defending their lead.
However, Lineker felt compelled to laud one Liverpool star during the game. The Match of the Day presenter took to social media to express his disbelief at Alexander-Arnold’s passing ability.
Here is Lineker’s comment on the Reds youngster during the game…
The passing range of @trentaa98 is extraordinary. 👌🏻

Despite Lineker’s praise, it is perhaps fair to suggest that Alexander-Arnold did not have his best game. Whoscored.com shows that no Liverpool player had a worse pass completion rate.
Of course, it cannot be forgotten that the 21-year-old is often attempting more ambitious passes. However, those passes tend to come off a lot more than they did at Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, Liverpool made a statement with their performance. They kept fighting and took a point from a game where they struggled. It is perhaps a reminder that the title race is far from done. But it is also a warning to the rest of the league that this Liverpool side will continue to collect points when they are off the boil.
