Gary Lineker heaps huge praise on Wesley Fofana as Leicester win

Wesley Fofana starred for Leicester City in just his second appearance for the Foxes since his move from French side St. Etienne as they beat Ukranian side Zorya 3-0 – and Gary Lineker has heaped praise on the defender.

Fofana, 19, threw himself onto the radar of European clubs last season after clocking up 30 senior appearances for Les Verts. It saw Leicester decide to pay the big bucks, splashing a huge £30million (Goal) to sign him.

The defender, who has been called up to France’s Under-21 side but is yet to play at that level, made his debut for Leicester on the weekend and impressed for Brendan Rodgers’ side – despite the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.

He started again and lasted the entire 90 minutes on Thursday night as Leicester returned to Europe, hosting Zorya at the King Power after finishing in fifth place. He helped his side keep a clean sheet in a 3-0 win.

James Maddison opened the scoring after Harvey Barnes had an effort that hit the post, allowing Maddison to tap home. Barnes got his goal after lovely play from Kelechi Iheanacho, with his backheel setting him free.

Iheanacho also got his name on the score sheet, acting on a mistake and slamming a low effort into the corner. A good start for Leicester and Rodgers, but as Lineker says, the Foxes certainly have a talent on their hands in Fofana.
