After Glasgow Rangers secured a superb Europa League last-32 first leg victory at Ibrox on Thursday night, Gary Lineker delivered his verdict on Twitter.

Steven Gerrard’s charges hosted Braga but things initially went pear-shaped as Fransergio opened the scoring for the visitors at Ibrox in the 11th minute.

Rangers had already withstood a period of pressure, the Portuguese side going all-out in attack, and the Brazilian midfielder broke the deadlock with a powerful drive in off the crossbar.

Braga then doubled their lead just before the hour mark through a well-worked move finished off by substitute Abel Ruiz, a neat effort into the bottom corner.

Ibrox was left shell-shocked but the hosts went on to halve the deficit in the 67th minute, courtesy of Ianis Hagi’s left-footed strike off the post after cutting inside.

Suddenly, the stadium was jolted back into life and things would only get better as substitute Joe Aribo slalomed past several Braga defenders and slotted home in the 75th minute.

And then, in the 82nd minute, came the moment of true magic, Hagi firing a free kick just inside the post via a deflection from the wall to complete the comeback.

Here are Lineker’s thoughts, as per his Twitter page:
