Tottenham Hotspur missed the chance to move up to third in the Premier League and to close the gap on leaders Liverpool.
Spurs matched the Reds result with a 1-1 draw against Wolves in a game in which they took a very early lead.
Tanguy Ndombele’s early goal could have been the call to arms for a dominant Spurs display. Instead, it saw Jose Mourinho’s side retreat into their shell and allow Wolves to apply considerable pressure.
In the end, it paid off, with Romain Saiss heading home a late equaliser and, in the end, Wolves were unfortunate not to snatch a winner in the closing minutes.

It was a display that left plenty of Tottenham fans frustrated, as well as some pundits and former players.
Gary Lineker was one of them. The former Spurs striker and Match of the Day presenter confirmed his belief on Twitter that Wolves thoroughly deserved their equaliser and criticised the lack of attacking impetus from Spurs.
Mourinho’s style of play has been a cause for concern amongst Tottenham fans, who believe his negativity might in fact stand in the way of Tottenham’s pursuit of the Premier League title.
Never was that fear more apparent than in this game against Wolves, where Spurs should have tried to go for the jugular but instead ended up looking like the prey.
