Gary Lineker has commented on Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday night, prompting a number of Reds fans to respond.
Liverpool’s form has taken a downturn – by their incredible standards anyway – since clinching the Premier League title, with two defeats and a draw after being declared champions.
The Reds headed south to London to take on Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, who lost to Tottenham Hotspur last time out and whose hopes of a European place were fading by the matchday.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s charges began well, taking the lead on 20 minutes through Sadio Mane’s pinpoint finish from another superb Andrew Robertson delivery.
However, Liverpool let their lead slip as Arsenal took advantage from errors by Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker to net twice before the interval.
Alexandre Lacazette and Reiss Nelson’s goals proved the difference as the Gunners held out for a 2-1 win and ruined the Reds’ hopes of achieving 100 or more points this season.
With the title race done and dusted, the result isn’t a particularly big deal in the grand scheme of things, and Lineker joked about “the crisis” continuing for the Reds.
Some Liverpool supporters had their say in response to Lineker’s comments plus numerous neutral fans downplaying their team’s achievements this season:
