Gary Lineker has blasted Serge Aurier on Twitter after the Tottenham Hotspur defender’s lapse in concentration saw him foul Sadio Mane and concede a penalty – which saw Mo Salah score the winner from the penalty spot to win 2-1.
Tottenham had impressed during the early stages of the match and were a danger throughout on the counter attack, but Paulo Gazzaniga starred between the sticks for Spurs – pulling off a huge number of saves.
Harry Kane gave Spurs the lead in the first minute, heading home after Son Heung-min’s effort had deflected off the post. Jordan Henderson equalised for Liverpool, after a mistake from Danny Rose in the penalty area.
Aurier had won the ball back from Mane, but his indecision saw Mane nip back in and Aurier fouled the Senegal speed machine. Lineker blasted £23million (Guardian) signing Aurier on Twitter, asking “what were you thinking?”
Well it’s been coming but, oh dear, Aurier what were you thinking? @MoSalah scores from the spot.

TBR’s view – Do Tottenham need to replace Aurier?
Aurier had a good game against Red Star, laying on an assist for Erik Lamela and during the majority of the clash against Liverpool, the Ivorian had played well for the north London side.
However, another example of a rush of blood was evident for Aurier, as he chose to take far too much time with a dangerous Mane sniffing around the penalty area. The defender cannot be trusted and needs to be replaced, he has become a liablity.
