Gary Cahill has played with and against some of the greatest footballers of all-time during his career.

From Frank Lampard to Eden Hazard, Cahill was lucky enough to share the pitch with some absolute superstars.

Speaking to ESPN on TikTok, Cahill has now been tasked with building a so-called ultimate footballer, and as you can imagine, a number of his former Chelsea teammates got shoutouts.

Cahill said that Cesc Fabregas has the best football IQ of any player he’s seen, while Cesar Azpilicueta has the best mentality.

When it came to finishing though, Cahill picked Didier Drogba.

The centre-back spoke about his £24m former Chelsea teammate.

“Mentality?” Cahill was asked.

“Cesar Azpilicueta,” Cahill said.

“Finishing?” Cahill was asked.

“Didier Drogba,” Cahill said.

“Football IQ? Cahill was asked.

“Cesc Fabregas,” Cahill said.

Didier Drogba was ice cold

Didier Drogba may not have been the most prolific striker the Premier League has ever seen, but he certainly knew how to keep his cool in the big moments.

Drogba was the man for Chelsea when it came to big cup finals, and while he did blow hot and cold sometimes in the league, if you gave him a sniff of goal in a big game, he was finding the net.

Cahill probably did play with some better finishers than Drogba when you look at the numbers – the likes of Harry Kane and Diego Costa spring to mind, but in a one off moment, there may not be a player in history who you’d rather have bearing down on goal in the last minute of a cup final to win you the game.

Drogba was an expert when it came to scoring in those massive moments, and that’s what makes him one of the greatest strikers in Premier League history.
