Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been praised by Spurs icon Garth Crooks for his performance on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho’s charges put in a gritty and clinical display against Manchester City, running out 2-0 winners despite 34 percent possession and just two shots on goal.
Son Heung-min broke the deadlock after just five minutes, slotting home after being set up by Tanguy Ndombele, and Kane played his part by dragging two players out of position.
City then had a goal ruled out in the first half for a handball in the build-up, and Giovani Lo Celso then made it two on 65 minutes with a low finish past Ederson.
Kane was instrumental in the second, surging forward from his own half and providing a perfectly weighted diagonal through-ball for his teammate to run onto.
Mourinho Masterclass… 🤝

Crooks named Kane in his latest Premier League Team of the Week on BBC Sport, one of two Tottenham players in the XI alongside Eric Dier.
“Spurs went top of the table after their victory over Manchester City on Saturday and they did it with the minimum of fuss,” wrote Crooks. “Kane wasn’t on the scoresheet but his influence on the outcome of the match was unmistakable.
“The England captain’s movement seemed to bamboozle City and help set up Son Heung-min’s opening goal before providing the most glorious through ball for Tottenham’s second, which put the game well beyond the visitors.”
It’s frightening to see just how Kane is developing under Jose Mourinho – not only is his goal tally as good as ever, but his assist tally is also shooting right up, while his overall play is simply superb.
The £200,000-a-week ace is one of the best players in the world, no question, and with Spurs top of the table and still competing on all four fronts, hopefully this is the season where he can finally lift some major silverware.
