Tottenham Hotspur are currently flying high and look like they have a really bright future under Ange Postecoglou.
One of the many reasons why Spurs are doing so well involves Guglielmo Vicario, who has been truly superb since arriving at N17.
Tottenham snapped Vicario up in the summer from Italian club Empoli for a reported £17million, and he has proven a revelation at Spurs.
The 27-year-old seamlessly replaced Hugo Lloris in between the sticks, no mean feat considering how good the Frenchman was at N17.
Last summer, Lloris expressed his desire to leave Tottenham, but wasn’t able to agree a deal elsewhere by the time the transfer window shut.

Even though he stayed put at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 37-year-old – who was reportedly on £100,000-a-week at Spurs – didn’t play for the club again.
Lloris finally left Tottenham in January, sealing a move to Los Angeles FC. However, according to Garth Crooks, he should’ve left a long time ago.
Crooks, who used to play for Spurs, named Vicario in his Premier League Team of the Week, and also commented on Lloris.
“I’ve said on a numerous occasions the best thing they did was to get rid of keeper Hugo Lloris,” he wrote on BBC Sport. “And it should have happened years ago.
“Since Vicario’s arrival, the Spurs keeper has saved the team several points, which is precisely what a top-class keeper should be doing.”
Hugo Lloris will always be remembered as a Tottenham legend – opinion
Admittedly, Lloris’ last season at Tottenham wasn’t the greatest. He conceded 39 goals in 25 Premier League games and made a number of mistakes. He was also unfortunate on the injury front.
That said, Lloris was a top goalkeeper for the vast majority of his time at Spurs, not to mention he captained the club. And that’s before getting onto his heroics for France including the 2018 World Cup.
It’s a shame how things ended but Lloris will always be remembered as one of the greatest goalkeepers to ply his trade at White Hart Lane and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Obviously Vicario deserves huge praise for being so good since joining Spurs that at no point did anyone suggest bringing Lloris back into the fold. Hopefully he’s the next N17 goalkeeping legend in the making.
