Garth Crooks says Harry Kane deserves a 'top-class team', amid Spurs exit talk
BBC pundit, Garth Crooks, has said that Harry Kane deserves a top team and top manager next season, after selecting him in his team of the season.
Kane snapped up both the golden boot award and playmaker award for most assists. This, despite Spurs missing out on Champions League football and coming in for critcism all season.
The England skipper pipped Mo Salah to the post in terms of most goals as the Liverpool man failed to bag on the final day.
However, talk is intensifying about Kane’s future. A recent interview with Gary Neville appeared to pour fuel on the fire. And Crooks, speaking for the BBC, believes Kane deserves the very best.
Whether he stays or goes, Kane has had another brilliant season in front of goal. No Champions League place or a trophy for Spurs, so the Golden Boot will just have to do.
“It’s been another difficult season at Spurs. If Kane does decide to leave, we wish him well – but if he decides to stay then he deserves a top-class manager and a top-class team,” Crooks commented.
“It cannot be right that each time he joins the England camp the captain has fewer medals than Leicester’s James Maddison.”
Kane is said to have a host of potential suitors. Manchester City and United are both keen, while Chelsea are also said to be interested.
Spurs are still looking for a new manager, too. Whoever that is, will have to be sure of Kane’s future before taking on the job in north London.
TBR’s View: Kane a certainty in everyone’s team of the season
Somehow, Kane just seems to get better and better. His overall game is that of a seasoned pro now, but he’s also maintained his lethal goal touch.
England will rely heavily on Kane this summer in the Euros. It’s just how it’s going to be and if the Three Lions are to have a chance, Kane needs to be firing.
In terms of Spurs, they just need to sort this ASAP. Whether that’s getting a big sum for Kane, or convincing him to stay.
