Tottenham Hotspur legend and BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has named Harry Kane in his latest Premier League Team of the Week and believes that the Spurs ace’s “all round game is as good as it has ever been”.
Kane came in for some criticism in the early days of the Premier League post-restart programme due to a relatively low goalscoring tally by his standards, prompting Jose Mourinho to issue strong defences of his player.

However, the 26-year-old has answered his critics in style, netting two goals apiece against Newcastle United and Leicester City en route to wins which ensure Tottenham cannot finish lower than seventh in the table.
“One with his right foot and one with his left in the win over Leicester keeps Kane and Spurs on course for a top-six finish,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport. “Kane is in great form and it’s not just his finishing. His all-round game is as good as it has ever been.
“The ball he produced for Son Heung-min in the second half was outstanding and with a better touch from the South Korean it would have resulted in a goal-scoring opportunity. However, it was Kane’s second goal that signalled the England captain was back to his best. I don’t care who is in goal, you can’t stop finishes like that.”
Serge Aurier was also named in Crooks’ Premier League Team of the Week.
TBR View:
That Kane recently found himself under intense criticism for being somewhat off form, despite having not long come back from injury and in some cases having to feed off scraps up front, is testament to just how high a bar he has set for himself, for club and for country.
However, with such a strong finish to the season and, as noted by Crooks, improvement to his all-round game, it suggests that Kane can get better still – a frightening prospect for any teams that come up against him next term.
