Garth Crooks has named Leeds United forward Jack Harrison in his BBC Sport Team of the Week, lauding the on-loan Manchester City star for his performance at the weekend.

Leeds defeated Sheffield United by a goal to nil at Bramall Lane, with Harrison teeing up Patrick Bamford to score the game’s only goal in the 88th minute.

The 23-year-old is on his third loan stint at Elland Road and has developed into a real fan favourite with his energetic performance.

In 94 appearances for the Whites, he has scored 11 goals and registered 13 assists in Marcelo Bielsa’s team.

Crooks was mightily impressed with Harrison at the weekend and said as much after naming him in his Team of the Week.

He told BBC Sport: “The cross was magnificent. In fact, the ball was so good from Harrison that he raised both hands aloft to signal that a goal was imminent.

“Meanwhile agony was etched on Aaron Ramsdale’s face in the Sheffield United goal as he knew there was nothing he could do about the quality of the ball.

“All that Patrick Bamford had to do was keep his eyes on the ball, hold his nerve and nod it into the back of the net. Game over.

“Occasionally the cross is better than the goal itself and this was one of those moments.”

Harrison was integral last season as Leeds romped to the Championship title, scoring six goals and registering eight assists.

After a valiant defeat at Anfield against Liverpool on the opening day, Leeds have claimed six points from games with Fulham and Sheffield United.

Those are the games that Leeds need to be winning if they are to achieve their ambitions and they will hope to use the last two games as a catalyst.

Leeds have recruited well this summer and Harrison might still prove to be one of their most important pieces of business.
