Garth Crooks has lauded Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance in Sunday’s 3-1 win over West Ham United at the London Stadium.

The BBC pundit named the right-back in his BBC Sport Team of the Week for his sterling efforts against the Hammers.

Alexander-Arnold was in fine form as Liverpool roared back into title contention against David Moyes’ vastly improved team.

Mohamed Salah scored twice and Gini Wijnaldum also bagged for the reigning Premier League champions.

It was Alexander-Arnold who came in for some praise from Crooks though, taking a place in his Team of the Week.

He claimed the Liverpool man put in a solid performance and waxed lyrical about his display.

Crooks told BBC Sport: “This week saw Alexander-Arnold back to his best. He hasn’t been there for a while but against Spurs, he looked terrific. He wasn’t bad against West Ham either.

I had to wait for 68 minutes to see Alexander-Arnold’s quality against the Hammers but when it came it was glorious.

“His cross-field pass to Xherdan Shaqiri was just sensational. What then took place was pure art. Shaqiri found Salah who produced the most fabulous two-touch finish you’ll ever see.”

Since the turn of the year, Liverpool have hit some choppy seas in their quest to sail to a second Premier League crown.

World-class players don’t become bad ones overnight though and Alexander-Arnold has proved that during the last two games.

He scored and registered an assist against Tottenham, whilst he was brilliant against West Ham.

The £60,000-a-week star has struggled this season but as they typically say form is temporary and class…well you know the rest.

Liverpool have work to do to chase down Manchester City at the top of the table.

With players like Alexander-Arnold edging back to their best, however, you’d still be a brave person to back against them reclaiming their crown.
