Garth Crooks raved about Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris after naming him in his BBC Sport Team of the Week for his performance in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
Lloris made one superb save from Mason Mount during the goalless draw which ultimately kept Tottenham top of the Premier League.
It’s been a stunning start to the campaign for Spurs who haven’t tasted defeat in the top-flight since losing to Everton 1-0 on the opening day of the season.

Lloris has been a mainstay in the Tottenham side, starting every Premier League game and proving an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s team.
Certainly, Crooks has been impressed with the player and backed him as the standout goalkeeper of the recent round of fixtures.
He told BBC Sport: “I was torn between Edouard Mendy and Hugo Lloris. Both keepers handed the occasion well with neither having a great deal to do, but what they did was exceptional.
“The shot from Serge Aurier needed two strong hands from Mendy and the Senegal international made sure the ball was palmed far enough away not to create any follow-up problems.
“However, it was the save from Mason Mount at full stretch by Lloris that provided a clean sheet and a point for Spurs that took them to the top of the table.”
TBR View – Attackers will take the plaudits but Lloris just as important
They say a quality goalkeeper can be worth an extra 10-15 points a season and in Lloris, Tottenham have a custodian who is undoubtedly world-class.
The World Cup winner has been a revelation during the 2020/21 campaign and on current form, he’s among the top goalkeepers in the world.

His save from Mount was a joy to behold and preserved Tottenham’s unbeaten stretch in the Premier League.
Lloris is paid £100,000-a-week at Tottenham and as a long-standing servant to the club, he’d dearly love to win some silverware.
A lot of that will depend on his own form and Mourinho will hope his purple patch continues a little while longer.
