BBC pundit Garth Crooks has named Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe in his Team of the Week after his performance in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham.

Smith Rowe was impressive again as goals from Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette ensured a 2-1 win and bragging right for the red half of North London.

The 20-year-old has proved a really decent addition to the Arsenal ranks since making his first Premier League start during a Boxing Day victory over Chelsea.

He has added something different to the final third for the Gunners and is capable of creating something out of nothing.

Following his performance, at the weekend he drew praise from Garth Crooks who named him in his BBC Sport Team of the Week.

He said: “If ever there was a game that typified Tottenham then this was it. Last week Harry Kane and Gareth Bale destroyed Crystal Palace but it took them far too long to get going against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, there is a young man in the Arsenal team so keen to make a name for himself he practically runs himself into the ground.

“Emile Smith Rowe caused Spurs untold problems down their left-hand side along with his accomplice Kieran Tierney. Two of the youngest players on the pitch showing the greatest desire.”

Arsenal fans had been demanding to see the Hale End graduate in the team for quite some time and were delighted when Arteta gave in.

The Spaniard hasn’t been disappointed either, with Smith Rowe bringing a new dynamic to the team, particularly when in possession of the ball.

The £20,000-a-week Smith Rowe is enjoying a quality season and on Sunday he showcased that he is capable of playing in the same team as Odegaard.

Arsenal still have plenty to play for this season and if they keep Smith Rowe fit, it could yet prove a successful one for the football club.
