Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks has praise the individual form of Robert Snodgrass despite West Ham letting a 3-1 lead slip against Brighton this weekend.
The Hammers are 18th in the Premier League after the weekend’s results and Crooks wrote in his BBC column that they must keep Snodgrass fit to boost their hopes of survival.
He said: “[Snodgrass] is probably playing the best football of his career at the moment. He’s certainly scoring more goals than I can remember. What a pity his team is struggling. West Ham cannot afford to let two-goal leads slip from their grasp. Such carelessness at this stage of the season could be catastrophic.
“The Hammers have to make sure Snodgrass remains fit. They have enough quality in the team not to get relegated but where have we heard that before? The last West Ham player (before Snodgrass on Saturday) to score twice while providing one assist in the same Premier League game was Andy Carroll against Swansea over six years ago.”

TBR’s View – Moyes was supposed to provide a solid base but Saturday’s defending was woeful
David Moyes was supposed to be a solid, if uninspiring appointment, who could improve Manuel Pellegrini’s defence to help the Hammers pull clear of trouble.
Snodgrass was fantastic on Saturday but there’s not too much use in him playing a part in three goals if West Ham defend as poorly as they did against Brighton and throw their advantage away.
If Moyes isn’t adding defensive solidity, it’s already harder and harder to justify his position. Bournemouth, Watford and Aston Villa have shown lately they’re playing for their managers, but more Hammers players than Snodgrass need to pull through for their boss now if they are to beat the drop.
