Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he expects Jordan Henderson to play in every one of Liverpool’s games over the festive period, labelling the Reds skipper, ‘Captain Fantastic’.

Henderson played an important role as Jurgen Klopp’s side came from a goal down to get a point at Fulham on Sunday.

The champions made an incredibly lacklustre start, and were punished. But they made significant improvements as the game went on. And Henderson appeared to be a real driving force for them.

Following the game, the England international told Sky Sports (13/12; 18:40) that Liverpool cannot blame their performance on their recent schedule or the injuries they have had to cope with.

Crooks has lauded Henderson for the way he has set an example to the rest of his teammates. And as the pundit named the midfielder in his Team of the Week, he suggested that he expects to see a lot more of him over the coming games.

“No Jordan Henderson in this side and Liverpool lose this game,” he told BBC Sport. “Ravaged by injury, I get the feeling the Reds might be feeling a little sorry for themselves but not Henderson.

“Liverpool are facing a gruelling period over Christmas but I bet captain fantastic plays in every one of those fixtures.”

It has been a gruelling season for Liverpool. They did not have much time to enjoy their title win last year. And given all that they have achieved in recent seasons, there was always going to come a time in which their form did dip.

Wednesday’s game against Tottenham is going to be massive for the Reds. But Klopp’s men have kept themselves in the mix despite suffering so many injuries. So there is every reason to think that they can bounce back and thrive when the games are flying at them.
